Wildfire Agency presents
Tijuana Cartel + Guests(AUS)
Supported by Kallidad and Electrik Lemonade
To be released on 19 April, Sophia is the second single from Tijuana Cartel’s special vinyl edition E.P. Ishtar’s Descent. Having recently joined the burgeoning roster of Brisbane’s highly respected agency PS Music Group, the group are poised to embark on one of their most comprehensive national tours in recent memory.
Tijuana Cartel are nationally loved for their east meets west, fat, bass-fuelled electronica. A truly unique act that have been mesmerising their ever-growing audience for well over a decade, they continue to set an exceptionally high standard in both live performance and sound production.
The Sophia tour kicks off on March 28 with two shows at Hotel Brunswick, where they will be recording their upcoming live album; and will continue through till August with a huge closing show at iconic venue The Landsdowne in Sydney. The tour also features several festival dates and a 4-date run in WA. Sophia features Paul George’s signature soul-stirring guitar work, overlaying a stomping four-to-the-floor rhythm with a deep, driving quality. In some ways it’s a strong throwback to the sound that established Tijuana Cartel as a nationally acclaimed electronic act. Their signature marriage of world flavours and squelchy electronica has since formed a movement all of its own, and this track encapsulates the sound of that movement precisely.
Kallidad combines flamenco, rock and mariachi music into an intoxicating instrumental mix. Together with the band's infamous 'Day of the Dead' facepaint, the result is a live spectacle that has been drawing audiences across Australia, Asia and Europe, including major festivals such as Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival and events as diverse as bush doofs, metal gigs and family folk picnics. Somehow, the three amigos have created a sound and energy that touches literally all demographics- without compromising their sound one iota.
Electrik Lemonade is a merry band of funklords that play a repertoire of funk, hip hop, blues, soul and dance music that could only be fathered by the likes of Captain Planet. Each member brings their own slice of Earth, Fire, Wind, Water and Lovin’ in the live show, culminating in a whirlwind of explosive energy that comes with a tidal warning as the crowd uncontrollably burst into a wave of dance and good vibes.
Since their debut in December 2010, Electrik Lemonade's live performances have rapidly grown as they play to crowds at premiere live music venues & festivals up and down the East Coast. They've been lucky enough to be aired live to National Television featuring on Channel 7's Weekend Sunrise, Channels 10's The 7pm Project, feature artist on Toasted TV & even reaching airplay in Europe, Asia, North America & regularly throughout Australia.
Drawing on a unique blend of influences while combining their comedic, fun attitude toward life they present a energetic, visual music show - after which, the crowd is never left with anything but a funky uplifted feeling.
